"Who Were My Ancestors?"
find your family's story

Do you ever ask yourself, “Who were my ancestors?” Perhaps you wondered about a person in a family photograph or heard a family story. Was there a Revolutionary War, Civil War or other war veteran in your family? Who was your first family member to arrive in America?  When did it happen? Were they an immigrant in the 1700s, 1800s or more recently in the 1900s? It may be possible to find out where they lived, their occupation, if they moved from one place to another, received a soldier’s pension or land grant.

There’s a good chance answers to these questions can be found by hiring a professional genealogist. Let me put my skills to work for you. I can search for documents that reveal your family’s story. My written report will include relevant components of your ancestor’s life. Here’s what one of my client’s had to say about my work:

“I have been interested in researching my family history for quite some time. My cousin and I had exchanged a few family tidbits but little did I know what was out there especially since my dad and grandparents were immigrants. A friend recommended Tina. She began a search for me and  very quickly she came up with so much information. I was amazed!

In fact, she “knocked my socks off !” She not only provided  interesting family details but went above and beyond including finding a film of the stone cutters of Vermont – the very job my grandfather did in Europe and Vermont! Her material was very organized, easy to read and included graphs and charts which made it very attractive to see the family line. As a crowning achievement she even managed to put me in touch with an unknown cousin in Italy. I would highly recommend Tina’s services and will continue to rely on her to help fill any other gaps.” ~ Tricia B.

Here's how we can work together to find your family's story

If you want to know, “Who were my ancestors?”

First, request an appointment so we can discuss what it is you want to learn about an ancestor. After our discussion, I’ll review what you have and once a contract is signed provide you a research plan.

Hourly rates vary based upon the service performed. Travel expenses are included. Examples of additional costs include, for example, parking, copying fees, and postage.

Whenever possible, research is conducted at the appropriate town hall, historical society, library, archive (like the NYS Library and Archives) or other repository because seeking original documents dating to the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries are best sources. Documents such as deeds, probate and vital records when analyzed lead to the best results. Online subscription searches contribute to findings. I make every effort to answer a client’s question. Not everything can be found. Information may be available in the future that changes findings.

All the records discovered will be analyzed, any conflicts identified and resolved if possible. The report will consist of the those parts while telling the story of the ancestor. Any personal, cultural or historical details will be included. It will contain recommendations for further steps if taken. All documents will be fully cited so anyone can tell where the record can be found. Finally any records that are not copyright protected will be provided.

I adhere to the Board for Certification of Genealogists’ Genealogy Standards and the Association of Professional Genealogists’ Code of Ethics.
